Safeguarding minister Jess Phillips introduced a government strategy naming violence against women and girls a national emergency and committing to halve these crimes within a decade. The strategy prioritises preventing radicalisation of young men, stopping abusers and supporting victims across local and national government, the criminal justice system and the voluntary sector. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch criticised school-focused measures and attributed the emphasis to cultural factors and migrants, calling for more police and removal of foreign criminals. Ghadah Alnasseri of Imkaan warned that such rhetoric risks making migrant women and women of colour less safe, citing recent attacks.
