Bournemouth beach buried in rubbish after bank holiday heatwave crowds
Bournemouth beach was crowded with swimmers and sunbathers during a bank holiday weekend with record-breaking temperatures. On Tuesday, the beach was covered with litter including plastic cups and bottles, beer cans, takeaway boxes, broken camping chairs, inflatable toys, and discarded barbecues. Hundreds of bins along the seafront were overflowing, and bin bags were piled on nearby pavement. Visitors ignored advice to take litter home and also violated local rules that ban overnight camping on the beach to avoid paying for accommodation. More than 20 tents were found on the sand on Tuesday morning.
