Ex-councillor sentenced over child sex offences
"Liron Velleman, 31, used the alias 'Tim Graham 95' to send his messages on an online chatroom and Snapchat, unaware he was talking to an undercover police officer."
"During sentencing, Judge James Lofthouse told Velleman: 'You know you have no one to blame for the disintegration of your personal and professional life but yourself.'"
"Velleman resigned as a Labour councillor for the ward of Whetstone in Barnet, north London, after his arrest for child sexual offences."
Liron Velleman, a 31-year-old former Labour councillor, was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 15 months, for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor. He used the alias 'Tim Graham 95' to communicate with an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old girl. Velleman sent explicit messages and a nude video, unaware of the officer's true identity. He resigned from his position after his arrest and will be on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years, along with community service and rehabilitation requirements.
