Ashley Dalton, the UK health minister and MP for West Lancashire, has resigned from her ministerial position while continuing chemotherapy treatment for advanced breast cancer. She was appointed as public health minister in February 2025 following Andrew Gwynne's departure. Dalton was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer the month before her appointment, having previously undergone surgery and chemotherapy in 2014. In her resignation letter, she emphasized the importance of reasonable workplace adjustments for people with long-term health conditions and highlighted the government's commitment to supporting such individuals in remaining employed where possible.
