Mandelson's bail conditions lifted after misconduct in public office arrest

Lord Peter Mandelson, former UK ambassador to the US, was arrested on 23 February on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was initially released on bail but has now been released under investigation by the Metropolitan Police. The allegations concern his time as a minister, during which he is suspected of passing market-sensitive government information to the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Mandelson's position maintains he acted without criminal intent and was not motivated by financial gain. The investigation by the Met remains ongoing.
