MP asks High Court to block watchdog investigation
"substantive claim to judicial review alleges procedural unfairness in the processes of ICGS, as well as perversity and illegality"
"The scope for unjust harm arising from an adjudicative process, in this case one which has the potential to end the career of a member of parliament, being infected by bias is very significant,"
"There is a powerful inference that [the complainant] leaked information to Reform UK, which led to Reform UK starting its own fact-finding process,"
Rupert Lowe, the independent MP for Great Yarmouth, has asked the High Court to block an ICGS investigation into a third-party complaint made in July 2025. Legal submissions on Lowe's behalf allege procedural unfairness, perversity and illegality in the ICGS process and warn of significant potential for unjust harm to his career if bias infects the adjudication. Lawyers requested a temporary injunction pending a full judicial-review hearing scheduled for March. ICGS counsel responded that Lowe, as a sitting MP, remains subject to parliamentary rules, procedures and standards of behaviour.
