Llyr Powell, Reform UK candidate in the Caerphilly by-election, reported receiving 55 death threats and being relocated from his home to an undisclosed location during campaigning. Powell described hearing his door being kicked in, having office doors glued, being spat upon while leaving his office, and facing verbal abuse and objects thrown during visits to Cardiff. Powell said police told him CCTV culprits wore hoodies and that contacting police was difficult, leaving him to rely on party-funded security for some events. Gwent Police stated they had received no contact from the candidate or party, and calls for stronger safeguards ahead of the Senedd election continue.
