Zahawi's record includes claiming heating for his stables on parliamentary expenses, shifting allegiances between party leaders, brief appointment as chancellor followed by a rapid call for Rishi Sunak's resignation, and being sacked as Tory party chair for failing to declare a tax investigation. Zahawi settled a 5m unpaid tax bill with a 30% fine. Several former Conservatives such as Andrea Jenkyns, Jake Berry, Danny Kruger and Lee Anderson have also joined Reform.
