Keir Starmer met with his Cabinet as pressure grew after Health Secretary Wes Streeting revealed he exchanged messages with Peter Mandelson criticizing the government's economic approach. Starmer told colleagues he will not abandon his mandate and said he has won every fight he has been in. Streeting told Sky News he has "nothing to hide" about messages with Mandelson. Mandelson wrote that the government lacks an economic philosophy and Streeting replied there is "no growth strategy at all." The Cabinet Office Propriety and Ethics team instructed ministers not to publish any messages received from Mandelson, and internal critics accused Streeting of manipulation and lacking support.
