Sturgeon tells BBC: I'm serving a sentence for crime I didn't commit

Peter Murrell admitted embezzling £400,000 from the SNP, with crimes committed between 2010 and 2022. Nicola Sturgeon, SNP leader from 2014 to 2023, said she had no knowledge of the wrongdoing and would not apologise for crimes committed by her former husband. She said she was not charged after a police investigation. She described gifts from Murrell that later proved to be bought with stolen money. She said her leadership role involved shared responsibility for monitoring party accounts but that Murrell misled and deceived her, leaving her feeling personally punished for his crime.
