Zarah Sultana accused leading figures in the new party of carrying out a "witch hunt" after several members with ties to the Socialist Workers Party were expelled. She boycotted the founding conference's first day and said a staffer had been denied a pass. Party officials said expulsions enforced a rule banning membership of other political parties. Jeremy Corbyn urged unity and called for a socialist party of mass appeal. Sultana criticised opaque expulsions without membership votes and warned against replicating a toxic Labour culture. Party spokespeople said rules were enforced and the conference focus remained democratic debate.
