Ofgem has approved an increased £28 billion investment in UK energy infrastructure, up from an initial £24 billion provisional figure. Planned spending includes £17.8 billion on gas transmission and distribution and £10.3 billion on high-voltage electricity networks. Network charges, about one-fifth of average annual energy costs, will rise by 108% by 2031.
