"zero tolerance for any form of racism, transphobia or homophobia displayed by the members of Reform UK"
"Their approach to the lives of others is antithetical to the values of welcoming and fair debate that our society has upheld for 177 years,"
"Bangor University have banned Reform and called us 'racist, transphobic and homophobic'"
"I am sure they won't mind losing every penny of that state funding under a Reform government."
Bangor Debating & Political Society rejected a request from Reform UK MP Sarah Pochin and campaigner Jack Anderton to address students, citing zero tolerance for racism, transphobia and homophobia. The society described Reform UK's approach as antithetical to values of welcoming and fair debate and urged other societies to keep hate out of universities. Bangor University said societies are run by the Students' Union, welcomed debate across the political spectrum, and distanced itself from the society's decision. Reform UK policy head Zia Yusuf said Bangor had been accused of calling Reform racist and threatened to withdraw £30m in state funding under a Reform government. Sarah Pochin criticised the decision as undermining free speech.
