Lauren Boebert Smacks Down Trump's Threat to Primary Her: That Can't Happen'

Boebert rejected a threat from President Trump to endorse a Republican primary challenger against her. She said her election and primary are already certified, with no time for a write-in candidate, and that she will face a Democrat in the general election. She noted her Democratic opponent also has no primary opponent, making the race head-to-head for the rest of the cycle. Trump made the threat after Boebert endorsed Rep. Thomas Massie in his primary against a Trump-backed challenger. Colorado’s candidate filing deadline for the Republican primary passed March 18, and June primary ballots were certified and mailed to overseas voters. Boebert is running unopposed in the June primary.

There is no time for a write-in candidate, and so when the president called for a primary opponent against me, that can't happen, and I'm going to face a Democrat in the general election. My Democrat opponent does not have a primary opponent either, so it is the two of us head-to-head for the rest of this cycle."
