Romania's Constitutional Court has confirmed Nicusor Dan as the winner of the recent presidential runoff elections against George Simion. Dan secured 53.6% of the votes, translating to a decisive win by over 829,000 votes. Simion, who accused foreign interference, saw his appeal unanimously dismissed. In a brief ceremony, Dan expressed gratitude to the voters and acknowledged the significant challenges ahead for a divided nation, hinting at a hopeful future. Meanwhile, Simion vowed to continue fighting against what he perceives as a coup by the court.
"I want to thank the Romanian people who turned out in great numbers for the May elections and, in doing so, gave legitimacy to the new president," Dan said.
"All we can do is fight! I invite you to join me, today and in the weeks to come!" he posted in response to the court's ruling.
