A 21-year-old South Yarmouth man died in a single-car crash on Highbank Road near Coveview Drive on Tuesday afternoon. Yarmouth police received multiple reports of the crash around 1:17 p.m. Responding officers found the vehicle overturned in a wooded area and engulfed in flames. Officers attempted to render aid to the operator, who remained inside the vehicle, but were unable to extinguish the fire. The Yarmouth Fire Department arrived soon after. The sole occupant succumbed to injuries. Three Yarmouth police officers were treated for smoke inhalation. The crash is under investigation and authorities request anyone with information to contact Yarmouth police at 508-775-0445.
