""We've reached the point where we can confidently say that they were intentionally set,""
""We have not reached a determination as to whether the fires on Blossom and Day streets are related, but we always consider a link when suspicious fires are reported in close proximity.""
""If you see something that doesn't seem right, trust your instincts and report it. If you have any information about these incidents, no matter how minor it may seem, please come forward. Even the smallest detail could make a difference,""
Three residential fires in Fitchburg within a week have been declared intentionally set and are under arson investigation. Two fires at a large apartment building with Blossom Street and Day Street entrances were ignited on Feb. 14 and 15 and were extinguished before significant spread. A separate, larger fire on Myrtle Avenue on Feb. 18 injured one person and displaced seven residents; officials do not believe it is connected to the apartment blazes. Investigators are considering possible links between nearby suspicious fires but have not determined a connection between the Blossom and Day street incidents. Officials urged residents to report information to the Arson Watch Reward Program, which offers rewards up to $5,000 and allows confidential, anonymous tips.
