"Our small team relies on the community's eyes and ears to know what's happening in your neighborhood. Without tips from readers, we wouldn't have reported on how the school district removed bus routes in the Berkeley Hills, or how a West Berkeley landlord delayed telling commercial tenants about toxic air readings, or how the 97-year-old resident of a senior home struggled to return to her apartment that was plagued by plumbing problems."
"We love seeing what you're seeing around town. Send photographs to editors@berkeleyside.org. If you're on Flickr, add images to our Berkeleyside Flickr group. If you're on Instagram, tag #Berkeleyside. Make sure to specify when and where in Berkeley it was taken. We might feature your photos in our weekly newsletter or on our site, and we will always credit you."
Berkeleyside's mission is to break news, build community and serve readers. The organization invites community members to submit news tips, photographs, obituaries and event information. A small news team relies on reader tips to uncover local issues such as removed school bus routes, delayed landlord notifications about toxic air, and housing problems affecting elderly residents. Photographs can be sent by email, Flickr group membership, or Instagram with the tag #Berkeleyside; contributors are asked to specify time and place and will receive credit if featured. Obituaries are accepted at no charge and may be published many months after submission.
