Boxer Gervonta Davis arrested in Miami after two-week search
""What the police said is exactly in line with our lawsuit. So whatever investigation they did, they determined it was enough to get a judge to sign off on an arrest warrant," the woman's attorney, Jeff Chukwuma, told ESPN on Jan. 14."
""The state attorney had to make the determination before, which coincides exactly with our civil complaint.""
""You think I would not find you,""
Gervonta Davis was apprehended in the Miami Design District after a three-county surveillance operation by Miami Gardens police and the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force and was booked at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. An arrest warrant issued Jan. 14 alleges Davis entered a gentlemen’s club on Oct. 27, confronted his ex-girlfriend who worked there as a VIP cocktail server, took her into a back room, grabbed her by the hair and throat, restrained her, then took her to the club parking lot and released her. The woman, Courtney Rossel, filed a police report and a civil complaint; her attorney said the police account aligns with the civil suit and noted prior attempts to serve Davis with the complaint. Davis had been training in October for a scheduled fight with Jake Paul and was subsequently pulled from the card.
