Brawls involving 'unruly' teen girls at NJ carnival leads to 5 arrests and organizers canceling the 4-day event
Several fights erupted Wednesday night during the opening day of the four-day Roebling Carnival in Florence, New Jersey, overwhelming local police. Police called in help from more than a dozen nearby agencies, including the Burlington County Sheriff’s Office. Five arrests followed: two 14-year-old girls, a 15-year-old girl, and a 16-year-old girl were charged with disorderly conduct. The 14-year-old also faced obstruction and failure to disperse, while the 16-year-old also faced resisting arrest. An unidentified 20-year-old was also arrested. During efforts to break up fights, an officer was injured, treated at a local hospital, and released. Organizers canceled the remaining three days through Saturday due to violence.
