California man tries, fails to deliver meth-filled balloons via drone
"Jorge Narvaez admitted to using an Autel EVO II Pro V3 drone to attempt to deliver drugs to North Kern State Prison in June 2024, packing two balloons with meth and dropping them over a prison yard."
"Officers discovered that Narvaez launched the drone a second time, equipping it with three similarly packaged balloons of meth, but the drone crashed into a field near the prison."
"Investigators were able to identify Narvaez because the drone, which captures images in 4K, recorded footage of him operating it."
Jorge Narvaez, 28, was sentenced to 12 years and 7 months for attempting to deliver methamphetamine to North Kern State Prison using a drone. In June 2024, he dropped two balloons containing 21.4 grams of meth over the prison yard. Narvaez attempted a second delivery with three more balloons, totaling 49.6 grams, but the drone crashed. He pleaded guilty in October 2025, and investigators identified him through footage captured by the drone.
