Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori won the US Open mixed doubles title for the second consecutive year, defeating Iga Świątek and Casper Ruud 6-3, 5-7, (10-6). The event used a controversially revised, reduced format with 16 pairings across two days at Flushing Meadows, which attracted singles stars and greater fan attention. Vavassori served for the match at 5-4 in the second set before Świątek produced a return break, forcing a 10-point tiebreak. The Italians led 4-0 in the tiebreak and closed out at 10-6 after match-point drama, underarm serve attempts, and a net volley winner. Organisers received thanks from finalists, and discussions about increased marketing and prize money followed, including a planned jump from $200,000 to $1 million from 2024 to 2025.
"You proved mixed doubles players are smarter tactically than singles players, I guess," Świątek said.
"We pushed to the end and tried to make it competitive. It was a pleasure to share a court with you."
"It was fun for us and I hope it was funs for the fans," Ruud said.
"doubles is a great product"
