Demare Dezeurn, a junior at Palisades and a top sprinter who placed third in the CIF state 100-meter final, caught 13 passes for a career-high 202 yards and four touchdowns in Palisades' 37-34 season-opening win over Harvard-Westlake. He transferred from Bishop Alemany after his first two prep years. Dezeurn's touchdown receptions covered 16, 20, 44 and 15 yards, with the final score requiring several broken tackles. Quarterback Jack Thomas threw for 378 yards and five touchdowns, including a 55-yard scoring pass to King Demethris. Harvard-Westlake's Auggie Sone ran for three touchdowns. Palisades recovered an onside kick late and closed out the game.
