Instead of investigating the federal agents who killed two peaceful Minnesota protesters, the Trump Justice Department is devoting its time, attention and resources to this arrest, and that is the real indictment of wrongdoing in this case, said Lowell in a statement."
Don Lemon added Joseph Thompson, a former Minnesota federal prosecutor with nearly seventeen years in the U.S. attorney's office, to his defense team. Thompson resigned mid-January over disagreements with the Department of Justice's handling of the investigation into the killing of Renee Good by an ICE agent, joining other prosecutors and an FBI agent who also resigned. Thompson will work with Abbe Lowell in defending Lemon against two federal felony counts related to coverage of an anti-ICE protest at a church. Lemon pleaded not guilty, and his defense characterized the prosecution as a political distraction.
