Elijah McDaniel helps lead Dorsey to Division I quarterfinal win over Eagle Rock
"When the referees ruled the field unplayable we immediately called Sotomayor and Contreras because they have turf fields and are the closest in proximity to Eagle Rock,"
"We had to arrange busing and we're thankful to the officials - it was the same crew that was going to do the game Friday. If we couldn't find a facility [today] then we would've had to play the game tomorrow."
"We were told at 3:45 that we weren't going to be able to play,"
The Friday night City Section quarterfinal between Eagle Rock and Dorsey was postponed after a transformer failure left Eagle Rock without power. Monday afternoon's rescheduled game was moved again when referees ruled the grass field unplayable in heavy rain. City Section officials relocated the contest to Contreras Learning Complex and arranged busing. Kickoff occurred at 6:45 p.m. amid steady rain. Eleventh-seeded Dorsey controlled the game from the outset, scoring on a five-yard run by Mahkai McCluster, capitalizing on an Eagle Rock fumble, and adding an 11-yard touchdown by Jamell Edmond plus a two-point conversion, finishing 26-0.
