Ten violent migrants, including five associated with the Tren de Aragua gang, were deported to El Salvador as part of a broader crackdown by the Trump administration. The deportees had histories of serious crimes, including rape and robbery, and were pivotal in reinforcing the relationship between the US and El Salvador under President Nayib Bukele. Trump expressed confidence in Bukele's efforts in managing crime and mentioned that the cooperation allows the US to address cost issues related to crime management.
All 10 either hailed from El Salvador or Venezuela.
The Trump administration has already deported more than 200 suspected gangbangers to El Salvador's notorious mega prison in recent weeks.
Trump told reporters Sunday that Bukele was doing a 'fantastic job.'
Bukele is taking care of a lot of problems that we have that we really wouldn't be able to take care of from cost standpoint.
