Arrested by the National Crime Agency, he had connections to extremist hacking groups Spider Team and Yemen Cyber Army. He attacked media and government websites, injecting hidden pages to promote his ideological views. Al-Mashriky bragged about his exploits on cybercrime forums, reportedly hacking over 3,000 websites in 2022. Investigators found digital evidence linking him to the Yemen Cyber Army via seized devices.
Al-Mashriky's attacks crippled the websites targeted, causing significant disruption to their users and the organisations, just so that he could push the political and ideological views of the Yemen Cyber Army.
Investigators linked Al-Mashriky to the Yemen Cyber Army through his social media and email accounts after seizing and analysing a laptop and several mobile devices.
The digital evidence revealed Al-Mashriky infiltrated a number of websites where he injected hidden webpages that contained his various online monikers and political ideology.
The NCA revealed he may have hacked over 3,000 websites in total in 2022, and took to bragging of his exploits on underground cyber crime forums.
