Great Plains Communications to acquire Fastwyre Broadband assets

GPC, a telecommunications provider in the Midwest and a portfolio company of Grain Management, LLC, agreed to acquire Fastwyre Broadband’s Nebraska business. The acquired footprint covers more than two dozen communities in Nebraska. The acquisition is expected to bring future network upgrades for subscribers, including access to more than 20,000 miles of MEF-certified fiber and local call centers. The deal is subject to customary closure requirements, and no financial terms were disclosed. GPC plans to continue investing year over year into its networks. GPC also reported recent service expansions in Nebraska, including symmetrical speeds up to 2 Gbps, and introduced Wi-Fi Elite for subscribers across multiple states.

"In May 2024, GPC announced that it had completed projects and begun operations to services - including symmetrical speeds as fast as 2 Gbps - to the Nebraska communities of Gretna, Papillion, Ralston, and additional areas of their existing Kearney footprint. Though it is more than a century old, GPC is keeping up with the times. Last September, it introduced Wi-Fi Elite, to its Nebraska, Colorado, Indiana, and Iowa subscribers."
