Illegal skimming device found on credit card machine in East Flatbush
""I told [Brown] to just shake the machine, gently shake the machine. If something comes off, then that's how we know that [a scammer is] scamming him, there's a skimmer on it.""
""It's sad. This is a low-income neighborhood, and it should not be happening to the people here.""
""[Customers] should be checking their bank account if anything happened in the last few months and let us know.""
""We're going to be on top of this now to be sure that everything will be OK.""
An illegal skimmer was discovered on a credit card machine at the Caribbean Meat Market in East Flatbush. Surveillance footage showed Jessie Brown, 75, at the store when a part of the machine detached. His daughter, Kalesha James, advised him to check for a skimmer after $324 was stolen from his EBT account. This incident marks the second skimming occurrence since December. The market owner, Nicholas Bueno, stated it was the first skimming incident in 14 years and urged customers to monitor their accounts and other business owners to inspect their machines.
