In a reversal, the Trump administration restores funding for women's health study
Briefly

The Trump administration has announced the restoration of financial support for the Women's Health Initiative (WHI), which had faced defunding that concerned medical researchers. Andrew Nixon from the Department of Health and Human Services emphasized the importance of these studies in understanding women's health. The NIH initially cut funding due to budget reductions, but renewed commitment aims to ensure continuity in research, providing relief to scientists like Jean Wactawski-Wende, who emphasized WHI's potential to advance knowledge on aging women's health.
"These studies represent critical contributions to our better understanding of women's health," said Andrew Nixon, spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services.
"NIH remains deeply committed to advancing public health through rigorous gold standard research and we are taking immediate steps to ensure the continuity of these studies," Nixon added.
"We are thrilled to learn about this news," Jean Wactawski-Wende wrote regarding the funding restoration. "The WHI is a once in a lifetime study that has enormous opportunity to further advance our understanding of aging women's health."
"If confirmed, this would be absolutely wonderful news," Wactawski-Wende expressed after hearing about the reversal of funding cuts.
