Hernández missed nearly two months of the regular season after suffering the injury on a head-first slide into home plate in late May. He tried to play through the pain, went on the 10-day injured list on July 7, and was not activated until Aug. 25 after nonsurgical procedures. Hernández hit .203/.255/.366 with eight doubles, 10 homers and 35 RBI in 92 games, and appeared in all 17 playoff games, including key World Series moments such as starting a game-ending double play.
