Koepka 'nervous' about return, must rebuild ties
"I've got a lot of work to do with some of the players,"
"There's definitely guys who are happy, and definitely guys who will be angry. It's a harsh punishment financially. I understand exactly why the tour did that -- it's meant to hurt. But it [his departure] hurt a lot of people."
"You're not going to ask somebody to change to please other people. I don't think he needs to play Monday pro-ams or walk along the range and shake everyone's and say, 'I'm sorry.' He just comes back and plays really good golf. That's good for everybody."
Brooks Koepka will return to a regular PGA Tour event at the Farmers Insurance Open, his first since joining LIV Golf in 2022. The PGA Tour approved a one-time Returning Member Program for players who have won a major or The Players Championship since 2022 that allowed his return with conditions. The penalties include a $5 million contribution to a tour-selected charity, no FedEx Cup bonus money in 2026, no sponsor exemptions to $20 million signature events, and no PGA Tour equity grants for five years. The tour estimates Koepka could forfeit $50 million to $85 million. Koepka acknowledged the punishment and said he needs to rebuild relationships; Jordan Spieth advised focusing on playing well.
