Multiple verbal commands were issued and the driver failed to comply, putting the vehicle in reverse. When the vehicle posed a direct threat, law enforcement officers discharged live rounds. Video shows a U-Haul accelerating backward toward officers, officers firing rifles, and the vehicle speeding away. No Coast Guard personnel were injured. Two people were reported taken to a hospital. The FBI has opened an investigation and local agencies did not immediately respond to inquiries.
