Los Alamitos finished 12-3 and captured a Southern Section Division 2 title before losing 42-21 to San Diego Cathedral in the Division 1-AA regional final. The Griffins led 14-7 early with a Creason-to-Gogue touchdown and a quarterback keeper, but entered halftime tied 14-14 after failing to score from inside the nine and missing a 26-yard field-goal attempt. Cathedral’s bigger offensive and defensive lines gained control after halftime. Earlier losses to Mission Viejo and San Clemente tested the team, but players displayed strong belief and closeness, embracing seniors on the five-yard line after the game.
