Austin Doucette, 24, of Carrabassett Valley, Maine, was arrested Monday evening in connection with the fatal shooting of Makayla Rose DeSantis, 23, of Colchester, Connecticut. The shooting occurred Sunday evening at approximately 7:30 p.m. at a residence on Left Bank in Carrabassett Valley, which was employee housing rented by Sugarloaf Mountain Ski Resort. Both victims worked at the resort. DeSantis was transported to MaineHealth Franklin Hospital and later to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she died from her injuries. Doucette was arrested on a warrant issued by Farmington District Court and is being held without bail at Franklin County Jail. Her brother created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for her burial.
