"BERKELEY A man died Monday morning after he was hit by a freight train while walking on railroad tracks in West Berkeley, authorities said. The coroner's bureau on Wednesday was trying to confirm the man's name and notify his relatives. The fatal collision happened about 11:40 a.m. Monday on the tracks in the area of Hearst Avenue and Fourth Street. The man was for some reason walking on railroad tracks when he was struck by a Union Pacific freight train and died instantly, authorities said."
