Jake Rosencranz, a 29-year-old man from Colorado, tragically died after being struck by lightning while standing in ankle-deep water at New Smyrna Beach, Florida. This incident, which occurred shortly after two golfers were indirectly struck by lightning nearby, could be the state's first lightning fatality of the year. Despite emergency responders performing CPR, Rosencranz was unresponsive upon transport and did not survive. Authorities are conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death. He was on vacation celebrating his marriage with his wife when the tragedy struck.
"In one terrifying second everything changed," said Sheriff Mike Chitwood, highlighting the suddenness of the tragedy that claimed the life of Jake Rosencranz on his honeymoon in Florida.
Emergency crews performed CPR on Jake Rosencranz after he was struck by lightning, but he was unresponsive when transported from the scene, ultimately losing his life from his injuries.
