New lottery coming to Mass. will award $1 million a year for life
Millionaire for Life will begin daily drawings Sunday, Feb. 22 at 11:15 p.m. in Massachusetts and 30 other jurisdictions. The game features a $1 million-a-year-for-life grand prize and a $100,000-a-year-for-life second-tier prize. Top prizes are paid as annuities with a 20-year guaranteed payout to beneficiaries, and winners may opt for one-time cash payouts. Tickets cost $5 per play. Players choose five numbers from 1 to 58 and one Millionaire Ball from 1 to 5, producing nine prize ways and additional prizes ranging from $8 to $7,500. The new game replaces Lucky for Life; remaining Lucky for Life prizes must be claimed within one year.
"A new national draw game, called Millionaire for Life, is launching next month in Massachusetts and 30 other jurisdictions, giving players a chance to win the $1 million-a-year-for-life jackpot every day. The Massachusetts Lottery said daily drawings will begin on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 11:15 p.m., with odds of 1 in 22.9 million to win the grand prize and 1 in 8.47 overall."
"The game will have a grand prize of $1 million a year for life, and a second-tier prize of $100,000 a year for life. Both the grand prize and second-tier prize will be awarded as annuities, with a 20-year guaranteed payout to your beneficiaries if you die prior to that. Players will also have the option to choose a one-time cash payout for the top two prize levels."
