Proposed Muslim development in Texas brings inquiries by DOJ and state officials; community members feel stereotyped
Briefly

The Department of Justice is investigating the proposed EPIC City housing development in North Texas for potential religious discrimination. State officials, including Governor Greg Abbott, have launched their inquiries. The East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) has seen a surge in its community, necessitating more space. With about 10,000 members, the mosque is struggling to accommodate increasing crowds. EPIC aims to create a community with all amenities within walking distance, reflecting the needs of the population. Community members have indicated that such a development would significantly ease their daily prayers and integration into local life.
I'm able to do this without getting into traffic or thinking about jumping into a car, walking distance. I mean, it's all about honestly convenience and then the consistency with which we're able to practice our faith.
Why not build a purpose built community where all of the facilities, all of the amenities that people want are going to be within walking distance?
