Remembering the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, 13 years later

Thirteen years have passed since the December 14, 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Twenty first-grade students and six educators were killed in that attack. Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont ordered U.S. and state flags lowered to half-staff and called for remembrance while praising teachers' courage and urging dedication to peace, kindness, and hope. On the eve of the 13th remembrance, a mass shooting at Brown University killed two people and injured nine, and a person of interest was taken into custody. Sandy Hook Promise emphasized that the Sandy Hook attack could have been prevented and called for investigation and swift action.
