"BYU coach Kalani Sitake intends to stay at the school, sources tell ESPN's Pete Thamel. BYU is in the process of putting together a lucrative contract extension to keep Sitake with the Cougars in Provo, sources said. Sitake, who was being considered by Penn State for their open head coaching position, informed the school of his decision to remain with BYU, sources added."
"The two sides had mutual interest and held discussions before Sitake ultimately decided against heading to Happy Valley. No. 11 BYU plays Saturday against No. 5 Texas Tech in the Big 12 title game, with the winner securing an automatic bid in the College Football Playoff.
