He originally pleaded not guilty after his July 2024 arrest in Texas. Federal documents schedule a plea hearing at the US District Court in Chicago on Monday. Brother Ovidio pleaded guilty in July 2025 to conspiracy and criminal enterprise counts and admitted that Los Chapitos took over cartel operations after their father's 2016 arrest. Two other brothers face US indictments and remain at large. El Chapo is serving life in a US supermax prison.
