Tehran Remains Defiant On Eve Of Crucial IAEA Board Meeting
Briefly

Iran announced on June 8 it would limit its cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, if a resolution deeming it noncompliant with nuclear safeguards is approved. Behrouz Kamalvandi stated that cooperation would be affected negatively, while Iranian officials criticized Western nations for accusing Iran of violations. Tensions have risen as the IAEA reported an increase in Iran’s uranium enrichment levels, which are significantly above the limits set by the 2015 nuclear deal following the U.S. withdrawal under Trump. The situation remains tense ahead of an IAEA meeting that could further complicate diplomatic relations.
"Certainly, the IAEA shouldn't expect the Islamic Republic of Iran to continue its broad and friendly cooperation," Behrouz Kamalvandi of Iran's atomic energy agency told state TV when asked how Tehran would respond if the resolution were passed at the International Atomic Energy Agency meeting.
"Mark my words as Europe ponders another major strategic mistake: Iran will react strongly against any violation of its rights. Blame lies solely and fully with irresponsible actors who stop at nothing to gain relevance," Araqchi warned.
