The Israeli embassy shooting was a stupid and horrific attack | Moustafa Bayoumi
Briefly

The murder of two Israeli embassy staffers, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, in Washington DC underscores the urgent need for an end to political violence. The assailant, Elias Rodriguez, targeted them after an event focusing on humanitarian aid for Gaza. This act of violence, which has been seized upon by the Israeli government as a deflection from their own actions, emphasizes the need for international pressure to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where many are at risk of starvation. The cycle of violence must cease to foster genuine liberation efforts.
This brazen act of political violence in the heart of the nation's capital only underscores the obvious: all this violence... must end, and it must end immediately.
The world needs to focus on pressuring Israel to end its blockade of Gaza and allow the flow of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory before tens of thousands of Palestinians die from forced starvation.
Criminal actions such as this reprehensible murder do not advance the cause of Palestinian liberation or anyone's freedom.
This stupid and horrific act must be opposed not only for its immorality but also because it deflects from the pressing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
