Trump DOJ hired lawyer who compared Jan. 6 prosecutions to the Holocaust
"These prosecutors are evil people. They will put you on a cattle car to Auschwitz without batting an eye."
"The DOJ that I grew up with, that I joined, and that I worked for for eight-and-a-half years would never have hired Jonathan Gross let alone for a job like this,"
"it's time for the police and government to pay for their crimes against the American people."
The Justice Department hired Jonathan Gross, a lawyer who represented violent Jan. 6 rioters, and assigned him to work with the Weaponization Working Group and the Civil Rights Division. Gross compared prosecutors to Nazi genocide and publicly labeled prosecutors as evil using inflammatory language that equated prosecutions to Auschwitz. Gross advocated financial compensation for former Jan. 6 defendants, amplified claims that federal agents instigated the attack, and reposted calls for law enforcement and government to pay for alleged crimes. Former DOJ officials criticized the hiring because Gross has limited criminal-law experience and a history of provocative rhetoric, and a separate FBI search targeted former national security adviser John Bolton.
