The plan for a $500 million Trump International Hotel in Serbia has become uncertain due to allegations of document forgery by Goran Vasic, a head of Serbiaâs cultural heritage agency. He confessed to fabricating government documents to justify the demolition of a historic site previously protected as a cultural monument. The hotel, planned for a site that was formerly a defense ministry headquarters damaged during a NATO bombing in 1999, had received tentative governmental approval last year. Affinity Partners has denied involvement in the forgery incident and is reviewing the situation.
Goran Vasic, the head of Serbia's cultural monuments agency, admitted to forging a document that allowed for the demolition of a protected site for the Trump hotel.
Affinity Partners stated that they had no knowledge of the document forgeries and would take necessary steps following the allegations surrounding their proposed hotel project.
