US judge says probable cause' to hold Trump administration in contempt
Briefly

A US District Judge ruled that the Trump administration may be held in criminal contempt for ignoring a court order regarding deportation flights to El Salvador. Judge James Boasberg stated there was probable cause for the court's decision, emphasizing that the administration had shown willful disregard for the court's March ruling. The White House announced it would appeal, with Communications Director Steven Cheung asserting the administration's commitment to ensuring community safety against criminal migrants. Boasberg indicated that the administration could avoid contempt by allowing deportees to challenge their removals in court.
The Trump administration's actions were sufficient for the court to conclude that probable cause exists to find the government in criminal contempt, Boasberg said.
The Court does not reach such conclusion lightly or hastily; it has given Defendants ample opportunity to rectify or explain their actions, Boasberg added. None of their responses has been satisfactory.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said the administration would appeal the ruling. The President is 100 percent committed to ensuring that terrorists and criminal illegal migrants are no longer a threat.
Boasberg said the administration still had the opportunity to avoid being held in contempt if it allowed deportees to oppose their removals in court.
