US sanctions hit ships delivering oil, gas to Houthi rebels
Briefly

The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on three shipping companies for supplying oil and gas to Yemen's Houthi rebels. The sanctions affect Zaas Shipping & Trading Co., Great Success Shipping Co., and Bagsak Shipping Co., which delivered energy supplies to a Houthi-controlled port. Michael Faulkender, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, emphasized the US commitment to disrupt funding for the Houthis' attacks. The sanctions will prevent these companies from engaging in further business, raising penalties for any future infractions and aiming to diminish the Houthis’ capacity for violence in the region.
Today's action underscores our commitment to disrupt the Houthis' efforts to fund their dangerous and destabilizing attacks in the region.
Treasury will continue to leverage our tools and authorities to target those who seek to enable the Houthis' ability to exploit the people of Yemen.
Zaas Shipping is accused of delivering liquid petroleum gas to the Houthis on April 10, allegedly transporting fuel products on behalf of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
The sanctions are being handled by the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), specifically targeting the Houthi rebels for their continued attacks against trading vessels.
