The U.S. military conducted a strike Saturday on a boat accused of smuggling drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing three men and marking the fourth attack that week. U.S. Southern Command said the vessel was “engaged in narco-trafficking operations” and operated by a designated terrorist organization, while providing no evidence for the allegation. Video released on social media showed a small vessel floating before being hit and engulfed in a fireball. The death toll reached 205 across U.S. strikes beginning in early September, with additional attacks announced Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. The Trump administration declared an armed conflict with Latin American drug cartels, and Southern Command said the strike was ordered by Gen. Francis L. Donovan.
