Watch: Firefighters in R.I. rescue yellow Lab who fell through the ice
"A yellow Lab named Phoenix rose from the ashes - or at least the ice - after falling into a frozen pond in Rhode Island on New Year's Day, necessitating an ice rescue from local firefighters. The Misquamicut Fire Department and the Westerly Ambulance Corps, Inc., along with the Westerly Police Department, were dispatched to Little Masachaug Pond off Atlantic Avenue for a water rescue just before 9 a.m. on Jan. 1."
"Members from both departments entered the pond in ice rescue suits, while additional personnel prepared equipment, including an inflatable rescue boat. Phoenix and the rescuers were safely brought back to shore and were all doing well on the scene, according to a statement from the Misquamicut Fire Department. Firefighters were evaluated by EMS for possible hypothermia but did not require treatment."
